Andy "Fearless Leader" Darling
Director

While a majority of his day is spent "staring at spreadsheets," the Director of the Marshall Recreation Center- Andy Darling considers the one-on-one time with the students and employees to be what he enjoys most about his job. Focusing on student development is what attracted him to the position. "Even if someone is working hard to get in shape, they're happy and it's a positive thing." Furthermore, "It's a privilege working with people who are enjoying it and having fun." He takes pride in putting energy into molding the staff into a stronger team.

Inspired by her Barbie workout record as a child, Sr. Assistant Director of Fitness Programs and Services- Heather Smith, takes her amped-up workouts and filters that passion into her work, creating the fitness classes and collaborating with instructors and trainers. In fact, she is so into her work that sometimes she says she get overly-focused. "I will be so focused I run into people in the hallway," she said. Alex "Superdad" Boyer
Assistant Director - Youth Programs and Intramurals

As a sports lover Alex Boyer, Assistant Director of Intramural Sports and Youth Programs, shares his love of soccer by helping coach local teams. An accomplished soccer player himself, he has been brought national attention to the teams he has coached in the area. At the Rec Center, he wants to encourage people to try new, non-traditional sports. He says part of his job is "bridging the gap" between professionals and the community. With all he does at the Rec Center and in his community he doesn't get much sleep, but somehow he finds time to do all of that and also spend quality time with his wife and 6 month old daughter. Coffee, he says, is the trick.
