2. What are the Building Hours?

3. Who can join?
All full time Marshall students are automatic Recreation Center members. All part-time students attending the Huntington Campus are assessed a prorated fee according to the number of credit hours taken. To become a member, part-time students must pay the difference between their prorated fee and the full assessment. Click here for more information on fees and payment options.
Alumni, Marshall Employees/Associates, Friends & Affiliates, and the Spouses/Dependents of these eligible members are eligible to join as well.
4. May I bring a guest?
Members may bring a guest by purchasing a $10 single entry guest pass at time of visit; there is a limit of three guests per day. Single entry guest passes may be purchased at the front desk. Guest must enter and exit with their sponsor. Guests must provide a picture ID and sign a release of liability form.
5. Who may purchase a self-sponsor pass?
All part-time students and graduate students may purchase a single entry pass for themselves at a discounted guest rate of $6.
Faculty/Staff may also sponsor themselves at a discounted guest rate of $8.
The pass is valid for entry into the facility. A valid Marshall University I.D. is required.
6. Are lockers available?
Yes, lockers are available for free on a day-use basis as well as for longer term rental.

7. Do I need a lock for my locker?
No, Digi-lock day lockers are available for daily use. Combination lockers are available for purchase on a monthly or semester term.
8. Do I need an ID to enter the facility?
Yes, you must present a valid, Marshall University ID card in order to enter the facility. If you have lost your card, you must obtain a new one from the ID office in the basement of the Student Center before you can enter the Recreation Center. If you are waiting for your new ID to come in, you must present a temporary ID AND a valid Photo ID in order to enter.
9. What if I forgot my ID? May I still enter the facility?
Students
and other patrons are required to have their
student ID or key tag with them at all times to
gain entrance to the facility. Each
time per semester the ID or key tag is
forgotten, the patron receives one strike on
his or her account. After 3 strikes the patron
will have to pay the guest fee to gain access
to the Rec. Any child 15 and under may enter
the facility without a key tag as long as the
parent/guardian has his or her key
tag.
10. Why do I need to bring my ID to enter the facility if I'm a Member?
All patrons are required to show their Marshall University ID. Presenting a valid, MU ID at the Welcome Desk is the only acceptable method of proving your membership status. Those who have lost their ID must get a replacement ID from ID services before they can use the facility.

12. Can Alumni use the Recreation Center?
Yes! Marshall University Alumni are welcome to join. Proof of graduation is required (Marshall issued alumni card, diploma, transcripts, or Alumni Association documents may be presented). Recent graduates have a one time discount for the first year if joining within 12 months of graduation date.
13. What is the policy regarding Food, Beverage, Tobacco and gum?
Alcohol, non-prescription drugs and tobacco products are not permitted.
Food and drinks are permitted only in the
Lobby. Water in spill resistant, unbreakable
containers is permitted in all other areas of
the facility.
14. Can I bring my Bikes/Pets/Roller Blades to the Recreation Center
Bicycles, skateboards, roller skates, in-line skates or pets are not permitted inside the Recreation Center. For your convenience, bicycle racks are available outside the facility, and skates should be stored in lockers. Only working companion animals are permitted in the building.
15. Can I post signs or announcements within the facility?
Any request to post signs in the Recreation Center must be directed to the Assistant Director of Marketing and is subject to approval based upon content and message. No handwritten signs will be approved. Please have a copy of your professionally produced sign with you when making your request.
Due to limited space for postings, only announcements related to recreation, wellness or athletics will be posted. Signs may not be posted on exterior doors or windows.
16. Is soliciting allowed within the facility?
Soliciting is not permitted inside the Marshall Recreation Center. Organizations wishing to conduct promotional activities must schedule and pay for space by calling the Assistant Director of Marketing & Membership to conduct fundraising or promotional activities.
17. Can I take pictures or video inside the facility?
Approval must be obtained by Assistant Director of Marketing & Membership.

19. What is the layout of the Aquatic Center?
Our pool has a multi-use design incorporating three 25 yard lap lanes, areas for instruction, therapy and leisure swimming. Because this is not a competition pool, the water temperature is held at 82 degrees which is better suited to the variety of users. In addition, the Aquatic Center features a 20 person hot water spa.

21. WHAT AQUATIC PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED?
As with all areas, the interests and needs of our members drive the types of programs that we offer. Currently, we offer youth and adult Learn-To-Swim classes, water fitness, and lifeguard training. If you are interested in other programs, please ask!
22. Who is eligible for Intramural Sports?
All students registered at Marshall University, as well as staff and faculty members, are eligible to participate in Intramural Sport programs. A valid Marshall University ID must be presented to verify eligibility. MCTC Students are not permitted to partake in IM events.
23. How much does it cost to play Intramural Sports?
There are no team or individual entry fees for Intramural Sports unless otherwise posted. We do require a credit card to be placed on file in the even of forfeit. Your card will be charged $25 per forfeit.
24. How do I sign-up for Intramural Sports?
Visit the Marshall AthLeague site (marshall.athleague.com) to sign up a team or sign up as a free agent. A mandatory managers meeting to complete the process.

26. Do I have to be a member to participate in Intramural Sports?
No you do not. Participation in Intramural Sports is available to all currently enrolled Marshall Students as well as Marshall Employees. For sports hosted inside the Recreation Center, participants must obtain entry in one of two fashions: either by utilizing their valid Recreation Center membership or by self-sponsored, daily entry ($6 for students or $8 for MU Employees). Sports hosted outside the facility have no additional entry requirements.
27. What is included in the Outdoor Pursuits?
As with all areas, the interests and needs of our members as well as outdoor opportunities will drive the types of programs that we offer. We offer adventure trips and instruction, an indoor climbing wall as well as outdoor equipment rental and sales.

28. What’s the climbing wall like?
The wall is designed and built by Entre Prises Climbing Walls. It is a full 3 stories tall and features nine belay stations, a bouldering area and a belay/rappel ledge. The program offers a full service climbing facility that includes top rope, lead and boulder climbing, rappelling and indoor climbing lessons, group rentals, programs for kids, schools, families, and team building opportunities.
29. How do I reserve a racquetball court?
Reservations may be made in person or over the phone (304-696-4REC) or online one day in advance. Reservations are for one hour. After a ten-minute grace period, the reservation is lost and anyone may use the court.
30. What equipment is available for check out?
A variety of equipment is available for free daily check out with ID card including basketballs, volleyballs, soccer balls, racquetball and badminton racquets, table tennis paddles, footballs and tennis raquets. Bikes from the Eco Cycle bike loan are also available.

31. Can I reserve space in the Recreation Center?
Space may be reserved in various areas of the facility while keeping in mind that scheduled programs and the availability of drop-in recreation will always take precedence. Rentals for special events and functions will typically be limited to times of reduced membership usage. Please contact the Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations at 304.696.4732 to discuss arrangements.
32. Are towels available?
There are two types of towels offered in the Recreation Center: smaller hand towels for use in the fitness areas which are free of charge and larger shower towels issued at the Equipment Issue desk. Towel service is free with your semester locker rental.
33. Do you have group fitness classes? What other classes are available?
Yes, and all of our basic classes are free! Classes are scheduled daily and include Spinning, Step, Cardio-Kickboxing, Pilates and many others. Please refer to the current schedule for class times and descriptions. Other Instructional Programs are available throughout the semester.

34. Do you offer personal training? Can I bring my own personal trainer?
Personal training is available for members & nonmembers. All personal training that takes place within the facility must be performed by trainers employed by Marshall Recreation Center staff. Click here for more Personal Training information.
