Marshall University Recreation Center Personal Trainers help our members and non-members reach fitness goals and improve health, one hour at a time. Our Personal Trainers are MU Exercise Physiology students and degreed professionals. Each Trainer is qualified to lead
clients through effective personalized sessions, with emphasis on proper technique and safety.

Why Hire a Personal Trainer?

  1. You want a challenging, time efficient workout based on your individual fitness goals
  2. You need someone to motivate you and make workouts more fun.
  3. Your current exercise program is not providing the results you want.
  4. You need performance enhancement training for a specific recreational activity or sporting event.
  5. You need guidance to improve your health by reducing risk factors for cardiovascular disease, bone loss, loss of balance, muscle weakness, etc.

Choosing a Personal Trainer
Members may request a specific trainer based on expertise, educational background, and certifications. Personal Trainers have a bio sheet on the web site and in the Bio-Book at the Member Services. If members are not sure which client to choose, we will place you with a Personal Trainer according to your goals and schedule availability.

How to Get Signed Up

  1. Purchase your Personal Training Package at Member Services.
  2. Next you will be contacted by a Personal Trainer to schedule the first session. The Personal Trainer will contact you within 48 hours of purchase.
  3. All cancellations require 24 hours notice. Failure to notify Campus Recreation of a cancellation will result in forfeiting the session missed.
  4. If the University closes due to inclement weather, all appointments will be cancelled. All session fees will be credited.
  5. All sessions that begin late will still end one hour after the scheduled start time.
  6. All packages are nonrefundable and nontransferable.

Rules And Policies

The following is a list of the general rules and regulations for the use of the Marshall Recreation Center. Violations of these policies may result in, but are not limited to, the following actions: removal from the building, suspension of membership privileges and/or referral to the Marshall University Department of Public Safety, Marshall Police.
