Youth Programs At the Rec
Healthy Herd Youth Camps-
The Healthy Herd™ Youth Camps emphasize developing healthy lifestyles through participation in physical and educational activities. Our staff is committed to an emphasis on self-esteem, self-responsibility, and self-worth for all campers.
The Healthy Herd Youth camps have two age groups this summer, the Little Marcos Age 5-9, and the Future Herd Age 10-14. The Little Marcos are for children currently in Kindergarten through 5th grade who are not younger than 5 and not older than 9. The Future Herd is for Middle School to young high school ages 10-14. We assure quality and consistent care with qualified staff. We welcome all members of the community. The atmosphere at camp is one that emphasizes community relationships, but also recognizes Individual achievement, creativity and original thinking. Our trained staff works daily to offer enrichment activities in areas such as arts and culture, environmental stewardship, health and fitness, swimming and more.
Tired of your child having a stronger connection to their Internet than with you? Join the Marshall Recreation Center for a youth and parent connection program that unplugs the electronics and plugs into a network that teaches team building and life skills through a variety of activities that incorporate both fitness and the outdoors. All parents are encouraged to join in on the fun! Each day has a main theme event with additional interactions to help build your connection.
By experiencing the wonder of nature and developing skills in outdoor recreation, young people, age 8 – 18, gain a life-long appreciation and understanding of the importance of natural resources. They also learn valuable life skills in making decisions, communicating thoughts and feelings, making healthy lifestyle choices, and fulfilling responsibilities to others in their group and community. Programs offered are: Youth Climbing Clinic, Knot Tying, Swimming, Youth CPR/First Aid, Camping, Kayaking, Backpacking, Kidobics, and Kids Yoga.
